Thanks. Got some number panels today from Grassroots Motorsports. I'm gonna put them on some magnetic sheet material so they can be removed when i don't need them.
They look like this.....

After waiting on a new ring file, and waiting for the weather to warm up a little.....i finally got the block together. I only have about 2 months to get this in the car and broken in, so, i guess i better get my butt in gear.

Nice. I like the sleeper theme. About the black intercooler, do you just plan on using regular paint? I've heard a few light coats of paint won't hurt the intercooler's efficiency. Eastwood sells some radiator paint that seems like it would work good on an intercooler.

Thanks.. I thought i would just use some flat black on it, but i decided to just leave it alone. It's pretty well hidden anyway and most people won't see it unless they are looking for it.

Were you talking about the IACV hole? If so would you run that as well as one before the TB? I might be way off, just how I read it lol. P.S. This s14 is rad.

I got my ARP head studs today....got them installed and torqued down along with a Felpro hg. Then i started to install the timing set and cams. Ended up snapping one of the cam journal bolts ( with less than 8ft/lbs) and i didn't have another to replace it, so......guess i'll be heading to the hardware store in the morning and buy enough to replace them all. I really wanted to get this thing together tonight but ....it's always something. :?

The bolt that broke is right behind the cam sprocket.

Extracting broken bolts sucks!...but it finally came out. I was ready to take a hammer to it. After that, everything else went pretty smooth. Anyway...the intercooler piping, an exhaust, and a nice big box from JGS should be here anytime, so the next update should be a little more interesting. Pix now.....

p/s delete bracket ftw

It's kinda felt like christmas around here this week.... :)

The IC piping, exhaust, and JGS starter kit arrived this week.....along with a whole week of snow....yay! I hate freakin snow.
The piping kit was made for a sr20 s13, but i can work with it.

Ignore all the salt and dirt on the car....haven't washed it yet since there is a shat load of salt still on the roads.

Like my photochopped tag? I think i'll get one that says NOTSR20. Maybe then i wont have to hear "You got an sr in there?" every freakin day.

Re: Project...Sneak Attack

Post by turbojay240z »

Well what can i say? Its been over 5 years since i have posted anything here. What happened you ask? Well, life... :angry-cussingblack:
During that time, i've divorced, moved to a new city, changed careers, bought a Subaru...the list goes on. As a result, the project took a back seat to everything else. Right before moving, i threw the motor in the car but had no time to get it running. Also, the turbo parts were sold to fund moving and other expenses.
Fast forward to today... Shes dirty, needs paint, she starts and drives, but I have yet to fully break in the motor. Hopefully now i can continue where i left off.

This is what happens when you end up with a big roll of carbon fiber vinyl and are bored on a Sunday afternoon. One day i will replace them with real cf, but for now this will do.

Old and busted...

Its only taken me 2.5 years to reply to this and post updates, but here goes nothing. i decided to make her a dedicated autocross car.
Engine is in the car and has about 40 break in miles on it. The turbo is not on the car yet, but that should be done by spring if everything goes as it should. It does however have some fresh paint and snow camo vinyl. Anyway, enjoy the pics.
