wow that is beautiful sir. and i never realized how much better the SOHC head looks flow wise.

any tips or reccomended products? were just back yard mechanics, so def not trying to make a business out of it. but a lot of us have diy port jobs including my self. thinking back to your first couple times you probably have a good idea of the results were getting so any suggestions are welcome.
( I just used a barrel shaped thing with like 10 "paddles" cut into it for shaping then just various grit flappers (1/4" rod with a slit in it to slide some paper) smooth as i could on the exh and 80 grit on the intake .) [/url]

I was gonna ask the same question. What equipment do you use?! Beautiful ports.

Oh, and nice photography. Would have been disappointing if they were all blurry and mal-composed :)

Keep it up. I always enjoy the eye candy of good workmanship.

Looks great, very consistent finish.

Have you tried polishing the exhaust more to keep carbon from building up?

mike,
Any tricks for working in the bowl? im just scared of the bit jumping and hitting the valve seat. maybe i just need better practive with my bit speed but every once and a while it jumps. i didnt know if maybe there were some special seat protector things or i just need more practice.

negative sir, waste of time imo but thats just me. 60-80 grit for everything, carbon is going to stick not matter what.

no secrets, but practice makes perfect for sure. u just gotta move the head around and position it so ur not trying to carbide in an awkward position to help prevent it from grabbing an jumping. this is why when i port heads i also do the valve job and resurface just in case i ooops it. it use happen alot, barely any now a days.

Your work is amazing. I just got convinced of who to contact for my next port work. Beautiful work...period.

Also I'd like to say your latest post awesome as well...but with an office chair in one shot, and a random supercharged 4 cyl in another deserves a "Like a BOSS!" emoticon.

Lmao..... Thanks. I have 2 office chairs in the garage. They work great cause they are comfy and telescope up and down depending on what bench I'm at. Here's finished pics of the manifold. ......

I know this is an old thread, but I had to post a few comments. This is some of the best head and fab work I have seen. Great work!
Also was wondering if you happened to flow bench the heads prior and post work? Love to see some numbers..

I do not recall if the e-head was flow benched before hand. I'm pretty sure it was after, I remember hearing a lot higher numbers. If you want to get in contact with mike... The best way is instagram #ammfab I'm sure he hasn't been back here in a long time. He said he's got too many fab threads to keep up with.
