*Gauging Interest* Single Din and Double Din Gauge Pods

Post by Pjay240 »

I am gauging interest on a few products my friends and i are developing. For anyone not worried about installing a car stereo in their 240 or want to fill up the space below the radio, we have come up with a plate in single din and double din size that would have holes for mounting whatever you want to put in that spot. It could be things like gauges, turbo times, boost controllers or similar items. It would come in the original ABS material or vinyl wrapped in your choice of color. I will post up some images of some prototypes that we have of the Gauge Pods/Plates. We don't have any pricing on it yet as we are still working on a final blank plate design. Current design is for the S14 only. Anyone interested in these products for an S13 may contact me for prototyping information for the S13.

Here are 3 different layouts of the Double Din Gauge Pod Prototype. Two of these feature 52mm gauges and the one sporting the triple gauge layout is designed for 50mm gauges. These are only prototypes and are not the final blank plate design... Layouts can be customized to suit your needs or desires.

I'm in for a S13 HVAC Spot Panel.
I still have a Radio but The HVAC Unit and everything that goes with it is gone.

So I'd be down to make use of that empty hole in my dash.

I'm referring to the Control Unit Hole since there's already plenty of vent plates.
I have not measured the opening but I'm sure you can squeeze in some 52mm gauges in there.
If not just a block off plate would be nice.

Here are some more Prototypes. These car fit either as a Single Din or in the HVAC Controls spot. I would think that these would fit both the S14 and S13. Hopefully this weekend i can mockup the double din with some gauges and put it into my car and take some pictures so that people can see what it looks like inside the car.

Haha sorry I thought you did it on purpose! You say you are 'gauging' interest for 'gauge' pods - a pun :)

We test fitted the latest design last night and there are a few tweaks we have to do to it then it will be ready for production. Once we get the Double Din ready for production We will move on to the HVAC Control Area. So stay tuned for the latest updates.

Bump we are still working on a few designs to include the double and single din gauge pods and/or switch panels as well as a pod for the hvac control area. We have even been working on a full hvac control relocation kit. However we have hit a snag where we have reached the limits of our machine and are currently working to increase the size limits. Check back often for updates.

Have you thought about making a new radio bezel, deleting the cigarette lighter and ash tray, using that area for the gauges and using upper area for the radio, boost/turbo controller?

I was referring to the control area, but that sparks an idea. What about the vent in the door? On an s14. That vent is worthless anyway, haha.
Kind of an odd spot but it could work. I also like the idea of a radio bezel with the ash tray delete. I like the 12v power source though...
