SOHC Turbo Build For Dummies
The Ford Motor Company introduced their single overhead cam (SOHC) engine in 1970, and since then they have been installing it in close on a million vehicles a year. This means that by now there are a lot of these engines around. In Europe, this engine fulfills a number of duties ranging from everyday workhorse requirements to the higher performance needs of Ford's more sporting vehicles like the RS Escort.

Most likely because this post is in the SOHC KA-T forum. Haven't looked just now but I'm assuming the same type of thread is in the DOHC KA-T forum too.240tuned91 wrote:why is this post just for sohc why not dohc or does it work for both. im assuming both?
:edit: That would actually be in the KA-T Basic forum.

hey wuts up guys. ok, im new to turbo and im currently buying parts to turbo my car. now i purchased a set of sr20det 370cc injectors. will these work on the sohc? im curious because on www.240sxforums.com someone mentioned that it will not work. now, i can get my hands on the 550cc injectors from the t2 rx7's if need be? i just want to know if the ones i have will work.

You will need something to control fuel. You will at least need an SAFC and some timing retard. I have the same turbo but i haven't put it all together yet. You should ask this question in the KA-T basic section. But like i said you definitely need something to control fuel and the tuned ecu is a big plus, for any large type of hp you need to have a tuned ecu.

so im looking at adding a turbo to the ka-e im swapping into my 87 hb 4x4. ive got a t25 from an eclipse. im not looking to do anything over 6-8 lbs as this is going to be a daily driven truck. can i keep the stock ka ECM with bigger injectors? and on the list of parts, is the apexi safc2 and the greddy emanage 100% needed? im doing this build on a budget, but if i absolutely have to have this, then im ok with it.MakotoS13 wrote:completely unecessary.
i don't have ANY computers other than the STOCK computer and i'm running a T3/T04E turbo with 550cc injectors.
Boost level does not mean anything. LBs/min is the accurate way but most people won't understand this. 10psi with a T2 is different than 10psi with a T4.
