wiring a Bee R rev limiter to work with a KA24ET

Post by Two-Tone »

Hello,

I'm picking up a Bee R rev limiter in the next couple days from a friend and I plan on using it for my KA24E-T project. My concern is how to go about the wiring. I know it's universal but has anyone here wired one before and got it function properly?

I'm aware of the KA24DE wiring diagram but our KA24E's are different of course and I have read plenty of times where people were only able to get the light to go off and also I've read mixed answers as to where it should be grounded with grounding it to the engine block being the most popular?

I've tried searching many times but have only come across unanswered or poorly answered threads without enough information to jump into this confidently, especially with it being my first time wiring one of these things.

So I'm hoping to get lucky and come across somebody willing to help out here who's done this before and, I hate to say this, but basically "spoon feed" me on how to do this correctly from beginning to end with tips/advice.

Thank you very much, any and all help is appreciated.

Theres a couple on other forums, some pics on google. Get the FSM or pinouts and the Bee R manual, should take you 10mins. Solder and heatshrink.

We I have Google'd but haven't come up with solid information. Like a 100% clear how-to.

Gave up and sold to a my friend who has a CA18DET. We got it wired up and working flawlessly in his car.

here is how I wired my KA24ET

Red - Pin 47 Power
Black - Chassis Ground
Yellow - Pin 3 Tach
Green - Pin 22 Crank Sensor
White - handbrake

only gray wire is cut

and this does not work,

rev 1 - anything
rev 2 - anything
Gain - 0
engine run fine, no rev limiter function

if I change the gain setting anything other than 0 the red light comes on and the engine dies

I disconnected the green wire so my engine doesn't die, and found out the red light come on and stays on at all RPM ranges
(when the red LED is illuminated the Bee*R Rev Limiter is trying to cut the ignition)

any help would be appreciated, there is not a lot of information on KA24E's wiring
some people who have KA24DE say using Pin 1 - Transistor Power instead of Pin 3 - Tach

Just a thought not sure if it would work but its worth a shot. Before I switched my standalone from Haltech to AEM I found that a Nissan Pulsar GTiR had the exact same pinout and wiring as a ka24e 240sx...Since that is a JDM vehicle you may have better results finding how to wire this up if they have a diagram available from BeeR.

Here is what I found out

Source - Bee*R Wiring Instructions
Yellow - Crank Angle Sensor 1Deg
Green - Crank Angle Sensor 180Deg (or 120Deg on 6Cly)

Source - Internet, people who have installed Bee*R Rev Limiter on KA24DEs

Option 1 - most popular
Yellow - Power Transistor
Green - Crank Angle Sensor (Maybe 180Deg)

Option 2 - less popular (didn't work for my KA24E)
Yellow - Tach
Green - Crank Angle Sensor (Maybe 180Deg)

Option 3 - Rare
Yellow - Tach
Green - Power transistor

KA24E ECU has 4 pins for Crank Angle Sensor input
Pins 22 and 30 - Crank Angle Sensor (180Deg Maybe)
Pins 31 and 40 - Crank Angle Sensor (1Deg Maybe)

So far I have not seen an example of anyone using Crank Angle sensor 1Deg for wiring Bee*R limiter on a KA24DE or KA24E

SOLVED
here is what I did,

Yellow - Pin 22 Crank Angle Sensor (180 Deg Maybe*)
Green - Pin 31 Crank Angle Sensor (1 Deg Maybe*)

and here is what I got
http://youtu.be/_aNxQ8K7nA4

* - I wrote maybe, because I could not confirm the Deg Angle for sure. KA24DE OBD1 has very similar pinout and I've copied the Deg Angle. For KA24E I have not a found a pinout that would tell the deg angle for this pins

If you look at Bee*R Instructions you may say that my wiring is backwards
Yellow suppose to be 1 Deg
Green suppose to be 180 Deg
But that did not work for me with Pins 22 and 31
Image

Also my gain knob feel like it has a backwards affect as well
Low Gain (1-6) - Long Cut, Big Flames
High Gain (A-F) - Faster Cut, Small Flames
