Twin scroll evo 8 turbo 4g63 Galant VR4 Brewed Tuned V2 AEM

Post by franman »

Been working on this little DD project for a bit, the mechanical side is wrapped up (at least for now it is, i'm sure i'll end up changing things for no real reason) I'll be getting to the paint as soon as i'm state side again.

My Galant VR4, AWD twin scroll 4g63 AEM EMS Tuned by Brewed Motorsports check out the link here for details.

http://brewedmotorsports.com/site/Brewe ... m_ems.html

Basic set up is:
92 vr4
4g63 stock crank, stock rods, Manely pistons, HKS 264 cams
Running on an V2 AEM EMS (speed density set up)
I fabricated everything from the intake to the exhaust and will be sure to post some much better pictures of everything as soon as i get back to the states!
Evolution 8 10.5cm hot side twin scroll turbo
Custom Full Race Twin scroll manifold
3 to 4” V band exhaust
High mounted Inter cooler for short routing IC pipes (mounted between the head lights in place of the grill)
Custom Dual pass radiator using PWR core
Nifty little catch can/over flow reservoir combo
Suspension is oem EVO8 struts and eibach springs

Built the car to get me to the mountains no matter what the conditions are outside!

and the old cell phone pics until i get back to take some real pics.

Currently on the hunt for e85, it's turned out to be a bit more difficult to find a fuel supplier that will deliver to Missoula MT than i thought it would be!

Looks good! Only thing I'd say is why stock rods when you got manley pistons and a full race manifold!

I remember my DSM days :) I was broke! LOL

I've only seen one Galant VR4 in my life. Thanks for doing this one right too :)

ah stock rods because i'm not gonna make anything over maybe 450-500 torque at the most with this engine (and that is if i switch to something like http://www.brewedmotorsports.com/site/p ... wheel.html more likely the Green actually don't wont something as large as the black. I'd also like to do a 2.4 bottom end only reason i didn't was to keep the vin # on the block original with the car... seems kinda stupid now though haha.

I'll have some pictures up of the new paint soon, still have a grip of wet sanding/cutting/buffing to do though!

One glance at the intake ports will make you question your motor choice lol

Haha, no. Not even close. The heads flow great on paper, and the ports look huge. The head does not perform in the real world like it does on paper. Flow velocity and quality are important. If you would like to see a well designed cylinder head, consult honda (b, k, f).

The 4g63 is really damn stout, I'll give it that. It will take an ass-load of abuse. Other than that, I don't find it terribly impressive. Its a good motor, definitely not the KING.

OP: Nice build. Digging the Vr4 galant.

Not that I don't agree with you, but what 4 beater would you consider king?

Nice build, I like it. :)

Fastest 4 cylinder that's based on a production engine is a 4g63...

i'll join in on the off topic haha

Bang for the buck (as far as engine only, not including induction/turbo) I am a HUGE fan honda K series engines.

Thank you all for the kind words on the galant

I still love this thing. I bet you really make v8 guys angry lol

Is that the new paint job? Looks really nice, i love black cars

I like your front 'grill' lol

I downloaded the POI set for my GPS for E85 stations. If you have a garmin or tomtom you can get an updated list with all the stations.

Damn the gps listing all e85 stations that is a nice little trick!

As for the paint yep that is it but it is actually a very dark green with a gold pearl you can really only see in sunlight, in direct sun it looks much much lighter but I can't seem to get a decent pic of that.
