Nissan will drop but it will probably be a better platform for a vq.

I'll believe it when I see it, Nissan has always tried to make some hubbub about a 240sx successor, but they never get around to it. Which is sad, since they no longer have any sporty cars like the Z of old. All of Nissan's engines with the exception of the new MR16 mentioned in the article are horribly outdated compared to the rest of the world. (Still using QR, VQ, and VK) without the use of direct injection, start-stop, offset pins, turbochargers, or a reasonable variable valve timing system (their VVEL system is too cumbersome and lowers engine rev).
That said, if they make a 240sx successor, I'm definitely putting a KA-T in one

you know, nissan does hold a few titles with those v motors. its not like they cant squeeze the ponies out of them.flip240 wrote:I'll believe it when I see it, Nissan has always tried to make some hubbub about a 240sx successor, but they never get around to it. what i dont get is why they cant increase gas mileage, or why they choose not to. there were cars in the muscle age area that got 40mpg, hard to believe 40 years have passed and the mileage has just gone down.

I'm not saying they are bad engines, but they are oudated. The VK56 in particular is an amazing motor and absolutely destroys the competition in CORR.
Unfortunately, the trend these days is to get great performance with good gas mileage. e.g. I've had several people ask me about new cars they should buy, and time and time again I have not recommend any Nissans due to the fact they achieve mediocre gas mileage in their class and still fall behind in hp. It really is a new trend, the Japanese in general are falling behind in technology and American companies like Ford and German company Volkswagen have the best engines when it comes to power and fuel economy in one package.
Nisan does have a great engine in the MR16DDT but they only have it in the Juke which still doesn't achieve that great fuel economy despite the fact that it has a version of the GT-Rs ATTESSA awd

I have no brand loyalty. When you drive a lot of different things over the years, you find what you like and what you don't. If I had to do this all over again, I'd have a small twin turbo LS series engine, would have been easier. No interest in new cars because they are never worth the money. It is better to be educated and drive a good one for 20 years.
Re:
But there are still quite powerful engines I find for Japanese cars. Like those of mitsubishi for example.flip240 wrote:I'll believe it when I see it, Nissan has always tried to make some hubbub about a 240sx successor, but they never get around to it.
