Nice job, looks great mounted up there

Looks pretty damn sturdy to me by the thickness of the pipe, yea flux core welding looks bad but it works fine, kinda like arc welding.

I like the wrap and heat shield idea, looks like it might not be too difficult, just making sure it wont rattle is the hard part sometimes. Some high temp plastic washers or some kinda isolator might be a good idea for the SC bracket if it gets too hot

yup! I decided not to get the 370 they wanted 900 bucks a month payments and thats just ridiculous if it were just me I would have made it work but having a wife and daughter it would just be selfish on my part. I will be starting another thread here soon on another 240 project I have  muahahahaha! fully built 1jz vtti

well I finally got the bi*ch running again thanks to my pops. I was the wire breaking down on the neg. battery...which I did kinda check out when the whole thing started its **** but the wire is only a couple years old so I didnt think much of it. So some new terminals and new wire and it will be ready to run. Here soon Im going to drop a new aluminum one piece driveshaft in and cant wait to get on the track in march!

Been way too long since I last posted but here something for you guys, I converted to a manual r&p. its nice a smooth only put about 50 miles on it so far but once I delete the ps pump it will make a lot more room for the blower set up I might even be able to use the factory bracket and modify the idler pulley for the blower. and plus I had a bad shimmy from old tires so I bought new ones and got the shimmy gone and decided to update the 20+ year old r&p. went with Megan inner tie rods little bit bigger with spacers for a more lock angle and new outer tie rods and got some poly bushings too.

and I took the front bumper off b/c I smoked a deer on the inner state so went back to stock with the piggy lip I made and painted it.

Front end looks good. Did you use a right up on how to convert to manual rack? Total cost? I need to do this as well. Thanks in advance.

10 bucks in grease, 80 inner tie rods and 20 for outer tie rods, 20 for the bushings, and 25 for the dust boots. Its not hard to convert it but its nasty. And I'd recommend using a separate rack. I had 2 extra ones laying around. I was going to do a write up but my hands were so nasty I didnt want to touch my camera. I'll post the link where someone did a full write up in a little while.

http://www.nicoclub.com/archives/howtoo ... grack.html

thats what I went off of. I made more/wider cuts in the piston sleeve. other than that its pretty straight forward. I know how you like your ride im not to sure if you would like it or not. definitely feel more of the road and I dont have a hard time turning unless im in a parking lot but I can still do it with two hands with out a struggle, I also have a smaller steering wheel so I loose a little bit of leverage. all in all im happy with it. and its less strain on the engine. Going blown I have restriction for power so freeing up more power n/a will help compensate for the loss with draw of the pulley from the blower.

Thanks. This is the same one I read awhile back. Issue what mine is leaking badly. I am weighing out my options but I need to do something quick. I don't mind manual racks but it is better than mine right now when low on oil. Thanks again for the response.

Glad you like the depowered rack. If you want you can eliminate the crossover tubes since you notched the valve. You can cap them with jb weld or weld the old fittings which is what I did, just gets rid of more unnecessary stuff. Did you notice while driving straight there seems to be a little play or vibration in the wheel? I am having this issue, it goes away at anything but centered and after getting an alignment and balance i think it may be the tension bolt that holds the pinion to the rack. Did you play with that at all upon re installation?

I just left them to have a little less pressure in the cylinder the grease will transfer back and forth. I tighten the bolt down to where it was snug. It was a little stiff but after a hundred miles or so it smoothed out a bit. Hardly even notice I don't have power steering now.
