Ka24det spark/fuel crank no start

Post by Budai0123 »

Whatsup everyone? New to the forums, and the schassis world. Picked up a 95 S14 with a cx racing kit. Previous owner went to a high performance trade school and rebuilt the motor in his shop class with the help of his teacher’s. Bottom end is stock rod’s with forged wiseco piston’s. Head was rebuilt with super tech springs, lifters and arp head studs. I bought the car yesterday for a fair deal, and the car is in desperate need of a good tune. Currently on a rs enthalpy tune, with 950cc witch hunter injectors. The car was running pig rich under any throttle, but fired up quickly, and idled well. Today, I changed the oil, fresh wix filter, and threw some new plugs in it. The old ones were quite fouled, and to no surprise the car ran much better when I fired it up. After letting it idle for a bit, I noticed the car was starting to get a little hot and that the fans(isr dual fans and Mishimoto rad) had not come on. I shut the car down, flipped the key back to ACC and the fans came on but after that the car would not start. The car has good spark, 43 psi base pressure, and the injectors are firing and it will do absolutely nothing. Just cranks, no pops or sputters or anything. Any advice? Thanks in advance

Might be as simple as a bad/disconnect temp switch so try and start it again tomorrow.

I would double check the distributor is stabbed right as it sounds like it might be off on timing with it running rich and getting hot idling.

Did the car ever run right after rebuild or did someone give up on their mistake(s) and sell it?

Previous owner gave up on it, although he was practically in tears letting go so that said something. Had off brand (witch hunter?) 950cc injectors which I suspect is 90% of the problem. Pulled codes off the car and got code 13, found broken wire at ecu coolant temp sensor. I was playing with the injector harness so the cts wire must’ve been brittle and broke. Ordered a pigtail from wiring specialties, some 750cc five0 side feeds and sending the ecu to rs enthalpy to see if I can get this thing driveable until I get a stand-alone.

Wonder if he slightly tore an o-ring while putting the injectors in, or has the wrong injector latency set. I think you're smart using known injectors.
I'd also verify timing with a timing light.

Does witchhunter sell it's own brand of injectors now? I've been using them for probably 18 years for cleaning injectors, but hadn't heard that. They always did good work on injector cleaning for me. Gosh, I remember linking to them from the very first version of the https://www.diyautotune.com/ probably back in 2005ish. ;)

Let us know if we can help you with a standalone 240sx PNP ECU. They make it pretty easy to get it up and running provided the car is in good mechanical shape with good wiring and such.
