car not starting after walbro fuel pump install
car not starting after walbro fuel pump install
I just installed a brand new walbro fuel pump in my S14 with a z32 fuel filter and now it's having problems. It was running great for a day after the install, but then it started sputtering and turning off while I was driving it. Now it just won't start at all. I can hear the pump buzz every time I open the switch so i'm confused as to what's wrong.
It has good spark, compression, and I took the gas line after the fuel filter and gas comes out when I open the switch. What could it be? The car is broken down so I really need to fix it ASAP. Please help

Well you possible might have flooded it, but something else is wrong. Just wondering, what kind of FPR do you have? Is it just stock? And how did you wire the pump up? Did you follow the instructions correctly?
Id say take your plugs out see if there covered in gas, and leave the plugs out for a day, or just a super long time, gotta let that gas sink and or evaporate. See if your oil smells like gas too, if so CHANGE it. After you let it sit for a long ass time, put all the plugs in again, and see if she will fire. Hopefully you didnt wire it up wrong.

I'm running the stock FPR, and no turbo yet. Yeah I took the spark plugs out and there fine, I also left them off overnight. I no for sure that I wired it right( I followed the write-up from here) the stock fuel pump also tells you which wire is +/- . And it started up fine the first time and ran good for a day.
I noticed on one of the fuel hoses when the switch is open that gas flows but not constant. Is this normal???

whatsup man ,if i were you 1st thing i would do is take off the feed line going to the injector rail, put the car in the acc position and see if the pump primes the fuel line(have a bucket to catch gas if any comes out)ATL240 wrote:does anyone no how I can give the pump direct power without openinig the gas tank?
2nd id hard wire the the fuel pump directly to the battery for its own power source

by spark leads do you mean spark plug wires(yes they are in the right order)?? And it's an s14 so coil is built into distributor.Walperstyle wrote:Spark leads crossed? Coil not connected?
Today I put the stock fuel pump back in & no luck. It still primes itself every couple of seconds......would a bad fuel pressure regulator or injectors make it do this?? I can't think of anything els that would cause this but the ECU.

just thinking of what can come into play maybe im wrong
I have had a walbro die on me after 4 months. These pumps need more than 1/4 tank at all times. The fuel cools down the pump.

I changed the plugs, and I keep checking them after cranking the car every couple of times. Im gonna try and get a cheap ECU and swap it out to see if that is the problem.Jmcc wrote:did you check your plugs you might have fouled them out. i know a walbro on stock fpr will bring base fuel prressure up.
Actually it is a great tool! Tells you timing is good, spark is good but fuel is bad. If he crimps the return line and car turns on then FPR is bad. Maybe the fuel lines are backwards, ecu bad, injectors bad. Without pics or we physically there, it is hard for us to find the solution.
